A Joyful Start to School Life

Every parent is concerned about their child fitting in a play group when they first enter the school life and has expectations about it. For any of us, this is just a natural occurrence. Have you ever attempted to put yourself in their shoes to view the world from their perspective, though? I believe it’s time to think about this issue further in order to acquire more strategies and develop a knowledge of them to address and make it simpler for the young children to adapt to the new surroundings in a healthy way.

The Nursery School children find every new situation challenging, and they are generally uncertain of what is going on around them. The first lesson is to exercise patience and refrain from evaluating your child in relation to other students. Keep in mind that every child has a distinct nature. Instead, introduce the child to his new environment gradually so that they can both get comfortable there. For instance, it could take a youngster several hours or even days to adjust to a new school. Since there are new faces in the class, can you picture how challenging it would be for the child to handle this circumstance and adapt to the new setting?

Parents can have daily brief chats with their children about school routines and activities they participate in with other students to learn new things. Make them excited by making new friends in the childcare classes. This aids in calming their anxiety and getting them ready far in advance of the start of the academic year.

To teach your students about the things that occur at school, such as meeting new friends and gaining new abilities, choose a book or a cartoon that tells stories about school. Reading a book about school and watching a cartoon that depicts school frequently raises awareness of the things that happen at school and inspires the child to get ready for school in a positive way.

Play a teacher or student role for your child in a role play at home. This gives children the motivation to attend school in a better way by letting them know the procedures followed there. Also, this will assist kids in comprehending the purpose of classroom expectations as well as the utilisation of classroom materials like books and a few enjoyable nursery activities.

Create a routine at home – By establishing a schedule at home, parents should start preparing their child for school well in advance. This relieves tension in the morning to help them acclimatize and also helps them finish the morning rituals like showering, using the restroom, and eating breakfast in time. It also helps the parent and child acclimatize to the school hours.

Preparing them for nursery school by taking them there, showing them around the classroom, and, if possible, introducing them to the teacher, so that they are familiar with the setting and can begin to dream about the school, is one way that parents can begin preparing their children well in advance. With this kids would be able to relax and feel at ease to attend the school on the first day

On the first day, one of the parents should volunteer to stay in the classroom a little bit longer with their child. In the first few days of school, reassuring the children that you will be there to pick them up after school and arriving on time to pick them up from class significantly helps the children develop trust and confidence.

Take the time to plan ahead and provide guidance without getting stressed or adding stress to their anxiety. At this stage of his/her life, the child would most value your understanding and support from you. Just let them be who they are, and watch them blossom with tender care and nurturing. Help them overcome their shyness so that they can grow up to be confident people of whom you can be proud one day.
